CONCEPT

Definition

Concept, n.. Type-chain, thus abstract-meaning, of a given order.

Comments

The term concept is used for the meaning of a type-chain when its structure is not being considered. A type knows both the abstract-meaning of each of its lower types and the concrete meaning of each of its symbols. The higher on the type-chain a given type is, the more abstract is its meaning, and yet at the same time it has more concrete-meaning; for having more lower types, it also knows more symbols. Thus a concept knows the abstract and concrete meanings of its symbols. See concept-equality, meaning, type-chain, Table 9, Concept, Table 12, Thing-tree vs.Concept, and Table 30, Correspondence.
